Consultation
Consultation will take place throughout the Planning, Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment. The Consultation Plan includes:
- Notice of Study Commencement
- Consultation with regulatory agencies and stakeholders
- Consultation with Indigenous Communities
- Elgin County, Township of Malahide, Town of Aylmer, City of St. Thomas and Municipality of Central Elgin Council meetings
- Communication with property owners, residents, and businesses in the study area
- Three Public Information Centres (PIC)
- Preparation of a Study Design Report (SDR) and 30-day comment period of the SDR
- Preparation of a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR)
- Notice of Study Completion and 30-day comment period of the TESR
The purpose of the three PICs is to introduce the project, needs and justification, the Class EA process, and existing conditions; present the route planning alternatives, and evaluation and identify the preferred route planning alternative; the preliminary design alternatives, evaluation of preliminary design alternatives, and selection of a technically preferred plan. Each PIC will provide an opportunity for the public to discuss issues or concerns directly with members of the project team.
In addition, the final PIC will include a dedicated property owners’ session, during which information will be available and a project team member will be on hand to discuss potential impacts to private property resulting from the preferred plan. Displays and presentation materials will be made available on this site following each PIC.

- St. Thomas Times Journal (in English)
- Aylmer Express (in English)
The notices will also be posted on this website and sent directly to all contacts on the project mailing list.
Stakeholder input will be incorporated into the project findings and recommendations as appropriate.
